Sudanese Kaskara of the 19th Century

Overall length 110 cm

The sword has a straight, double-edged, European blade, grooved at the centre of the first part and engraved with sun, moon and stars under the effigy of an arm holding a sabre coming out of a cloud. The massive, iron hilt features a cross-shaped quillon, silver grip and pommel richly engraved and decorated with jade and cabochon stones.
