Late 13th/Early 14th CenturyIn excavated condition, with broad slightly tapering blade with shallow central fuller extending from the tang to the rounded point (probably slightly reduced) along each side, both sides retaining traces of a latten-filled mark, slightly arched quillons of tapering squared section, long flat tapering tang, and thick wheel pommel with chamfered edges 89.8 cm. blade Provenance: Von Schultess Collection, Zurich The pommel conforms to Oakeshott's Type I with quillons of Style 1a.
