Editor's Note: This sword is definitely a contender for being part of the XVIII family, but I have chosen to place it in Type XV - I believe it is a closer fit. I think this highlights the sometimes arbitrariness of the Oakeshott Typology; again though, it is the best system we currently have to hand and its flaws are smaller than its strengths.
Geography: Made in Italy, Europe Date: c. 1400-1415 Medium: Steel [blade]; iron [hilt]; wood replaced Dimensions: Length (overall): 40 1/2 inches (102.9 cm) Blade: 3 7/16 x 31 3/4 inches (8.7 x 80.6 cm) Width (quillions): 10 1/16 inches (25.6 cm) Diameter (pommel): 2 5/16 inches (5.8 cm) Weight: 3 lb.
