Broad Bladed Luristan / Lorestan Short Sword

Circa 8th Century B.C.

The long triangular blade with high mid-rib, decorated with multiple grooves, the crescent-shaped guard cast together with the rectangular grip, with recessed geometric decoration for now-missing inlays and hemispherical stone pommel, 22in (56cm) long.

Provenance: English private collection, formed in the 1970s.
