Oakeshott Type XIV Medieval Sword

Description: Straight, wide, double-edged blade with double groove; iron hilt with quillons bent toward the blade, large parry ring; smooth, oval pommel; wooden grip with longitudinal, iron bands. Interesting.

Provenance: Venice

Dimensions: length 69 cm.

Date: circa 1600

*Editor's Note: This sword could be either categorised as a XIV or XXI. I have chose to allocate it to the XIV category due to its hilt not being characteristically of the XXI type. Either type would be a suitable designation however.
