Creation Date: c.1200-1000 BC Materials: Copper alloy (Bronze) Dimensions: 58.1 cm RCIN 61514 Reference(s): Laking AA 50 Provenance: Weapon was probably one of the ones referred to in a bill of Bland & Foster, dated 10th September 1790, "Three daggers & two Spear blades made of the Mettal used (sic) before Iron was known, the Arms us'd by the Romans when they invaded this Country. Very curious pieces of Antiquity', at 15 10s. Part of the hoard found at Ambleside in Westmorland. Came to Windsor on 11th April 1837. Description: Bronze sword with grip and blade cast in one piece. The straight two edged blade tapers to a point and is of lenticular section with slight bevelled sections. The grip is of oval section, broadening towards the blade and with a mushroom shaped pommel.
