Measurements: Blade 68.6cm. Overall length 83.5cm The sword comes with a slender double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section formed with a short point iron cross-piece curved towards the grip and tapering slightly towards the tips, iron boat-shaped pommel-cap that also tapers towards the ends. The cross-piece and the pommel-cap each have rounded curved inner edges, each fitted over a brass fillet, and retaining its original carved figured pale rootwood grip. Examples of this kind of sword are very rare and they have comparable blades and hilts that are preserved in the Landesmuseum, Zurich, while several are illustrated in the Spiezerchronik of Diebold Schilling, pub. circa 1485.
