Avar-Khasar long iron bladed sword Ca.9th -10th century,Very long iron bladed sword having a single sharpened edge and a flat upper, the body showing considerable corrosion and rust patina. Retains some of the original iron furniture: triangular hilt and three rivets still extant in the hafting holes on the tang. Remarkably intact and stable, though fragile.
Provenance: Private New Jersey collection, acquired from Hermann Historica, Germany
