Dayak Headhunter's Sword Mandau

19th century, the period of unregulated headhunting. 20 5/8 blade with long clipped point shows frosty gray patina with a little pitting to the point. Carved wood hilt with abstracted mystical motif pommel mounted with black hair. The grip with bands of woven split cane, sound and complete. Two piece wood scabbard with high relief abstracted carving to the throat and tip, complete with its back pouch for fleshing knife. The split cane securing bands complete and undamaged including the connecting strand to the back.
