Late 13th/Early 14th Century Sword. In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with central fuller over nearly its entire length on each side becoming a double fuller at the forte and with two latten-inlaid arrows on one side, straight tapering quillons of octagonal section, flat tapering tang deeply struck with an 'X' mark on one side, and flat disc-shaped pommel with chamfered edges. 103.3 cm. blade Sold for £7,800 inc. premium Footnotes : This sword conforms to Oakeshott's Type XIIIa with a pommel of Type H.
