Low Temperature Oxidation of Linseed Oil A ....pdf (2.18 MB) Editor's Note: My reading of this paper, admittedly as a non-scientist, is that the presence of drying agents (particularly metals), thinners (like mineral spirits) and perhaps microbial activity makes Linseed Oil volatile under certain circumstances. Raw Linseed oil does not appear to be as problematic. I personally mix Raw Linseed Oil with Mineral Oil, and so far, touch wood as they say I have never had any problems. I also dispose of Linseed Oil rags immediately after use.
