For cutting the veins on the left side of the neck in ritual suicide, the blade formed with a short groove and suguha hamon, the tang pierced with three holes and inscribed with two characters, the tsuka (hilt)and saya (scabbard) each of the archaic form characteristic of the Kwaiken, decorated with flecked and cloud-patterned amber-coloured nashiji lacquer, and with cloud-shaped silver mounts cast in low relief and decorated with a subdued finely punched matted ground.
