Northern Italian Short Sword w/ Diamond Cross Section

Editor's Note: This sword could justifiably be put in Oakeshott's Type XV, though the hilt furniture and it's length make it a better fit for XXI.

Early 16th Century

Sturdy blade with distinct medial ridge, on both sides marks in the shape of a crutch cross. Curved quillons, hilt with elaborate wire wrap and Turk's head. Cut globular pommel swamped on the side, with scallop-shaped decoration on the obverse.

Length 72 cm.
