19th Century Persian straight sword also known as Revival sword, as it was reviving the use of old 15 C style Islamic straight swords. Quite a rare item and not frequently seen on the market. This beautiful blade is 33 inches long, 2 inches wide at the top, and although thin is very solid and both edges are sharp. The entire blade is elaborately etched on its two faces in the typical Qajar style with Arabic inscription and one central human figure. The hilt is steel, with down curving quillons, and was decorated with silver koftgary, now mostly gone. Total length 40 inches. Source: www.oriental-arms.com/item.php?id=1900
