English Military Musicians Sword circa 1860

Regulation brass hilt (Wilkinson #46, center) with VR cipher, the grip marked 2VB RF 16 (2nd Volunteer Battalion, Royal Fusiliers). 21 1/2" d.e. blade with isolated pitting from storage. Leather scabbard lacks the tip mount, otherwise near excellent.

Although it was primarily intended as a ceremonial weapon, in the right hand, this sword would have been a tool of lethality par excellence much like the Roman Gladius upon which it was modelled.
