Luristan, circa 1200 B.C. Bronze with heavy greenish patina and remnants of encrustations from excavation. Slender blade with a pronounced rounded medial ridge on both sides. V-shaped grip ferrules, sprung on one side. Angular grip in sections with the typical extended pommel with line decoration. Cleaned excavation discovery. An interesting precursor to the Sassanian Iron Long Sword in terms of blade form, and the Turkish Yatagahn in terms of hilt design. The hilt of the Turkish Yataghan was subsequently adapted for the 'Ear Dagger' of Western Europe. Length 95 cm. Source: www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2423584
