Sword-Site is the world's largest free sword museum, online, available 24 hours a day 365 days a year. As the creator of this site, and the compiler of a huge catalogue of historic swords from museums, auction houses and private individuals, my intention was always to put everything together, in one spot and offer it to the world for free.
Most sword related sites are forums that are full of irrelevant posts by people who have no real depth of knowledge, who form cliques and play social games like giving themselves special titles, forming groupthink consensuses and orthodoxies, and bound together by an insider/outsider mentality. Frankly that stuff is boring, and a waste of server space.
Sword-Site changed everything by forming a compendious catalogue of examples of swords, scholarly articles and related resources. Getting access to meaningful information is easy on Sword-Site. Every available measurement, line item of provenance or other relevant data available is included, without editorializing. I ensure that every example has a hyperlink to the location of the sword - whether it is in a museum, was listed in an auction catalogue or sent to me directly by an individual.
I often get asked how people can help. The website is here to stay, and will continue to amass data. While I have tried various forms of advertising to generate revenue for the maintenance of the site, I feel that advertising is not necessarily in line with Sword-Site's mission, even though I have never let advertising effect the content in any way. While revenue is not necessary to sustain the site, when available it is put to good use.
The site is something I am immensely proud of, that is financially secure and will continue in perpetuity; but if you feel that you want to support the site, you can make a donation. Just register on the site and contact me.
Yours in swords!
