Scottish broadsword dating from the times of the American Revolution or few decades earlier, wearing a powerful and very wide multi fullered blade with struck "SOLINGEN" designation to each side, blade exhibits fine pitting and nice light patina throughout, a bit heavier at ricasso area, retaining exceptionally sharp edges and overall devastating strength. Large iron or steel basket guard with fluted bars, pierced and carved decorations, showing cleaned over the years surface with remains of original patina and fine pitting throughout, nice thick grip with possibly later restored shark skin and brass wire wrapping. All solid and completely intact, comes with a very nice reproduction scabbard, most likely taken off of a Victorian era sword and complementing greatly this impressive mid to late 18th century example.
