An Italian Knightly Sword, Late 14th/Early 15th Century.With broad brightly polished tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollowed flattened diamond section struck with bladesmith's mark on each side, the forte on one side inlaid in latten with a gothic 'R', hilt comprising arched tapering quillons swelling over the forte on both sides and with scrolled tips, bottle-shaped wooden grip (some worming), and large circular pommel with shallow medial ridge on both sides and tapering up to an integral tang button (some pitting overall) 79 cm. blade For other examples see Lionello G.
