I would be grateful if anyone could help with an identification and period for this artefact, It is a metal detecting find and presumed to be a pommel, I have been unable to find an exact parallel. It's copper-alloy/bronze and the dimensions are 40mm X 40mm. Thank you in anticipation.
Hi! Thanks for your post. I can't identify with great accuracy, it's unusual. Your best bet would be, in my view, to run it past Oliver Pinchot at Auctions Imperial, tell him Jack Loomes of Sword-Site sent you, & for a small fee he can undoubtedly give you some idea. Kindest Regards, Jack
A little Indian brave who before he was ten/played war games inthe woods with his Indian friends/& he built a dream that when he grew up/he would be a Fierce Warrior Indian Chief
Many moons passed & for the boy the dream grew strong until tomorrow he would sing his first war song/& fight his first battle/but something went wrong
Suprise attack killed him in his sleep that night
And so castles made of sand/melt into the sea/eventually
Hi Jack, thank you for your reply, but as the work I do as a validator on UKDFD, identifying fellow detectorists finds is voluntary, I am not in a position to use my personal income, so fo the moment this find will remain a mystery, thanks again for your input.
